10 months!

Our boy is 10 months old today. He is blooming. He is an incredible little person.
His vocabulary is still limited to just a version of "hi," his own word for "dog" and, of course, "dada." He surprises us with his use of that word, breaking into grin when he sees Ali and saying it. But later when we try to show him off and we say "is that dada?" he just smiles and hides his face in my shoulder.
He loves the vinyl decal birds I put in his room. He loves to show them, and other things, to anyone who will pick him up. He throws his little arm out to show where he wants to be carried.
He waves. He signs "milk" every now and then, usually while nursing. He's learning.
He still hasn't taken more than 10 steps at a time, but I'm sure the walking will come when it's time. He's still very mobile. Very capable.
He loves:
the broom
the toilet
playing in water
bright light
outside
the refridgerator
eating
nursing
hide and seek
cell phones
laptops
I realized today that I plan meals with an eye toward what he likes and will eat. I don't know why this makes me happy but it does. Food is not about self-loathing, punishment, reward anymore, it's about nourishing my baby boy. He loves my lentil soup with sour cream and black bean tacos with avocado. This makes me happy.
