ATCS 840 - Plasti-Dipping vs. Powder-Coating - Overclock.net ...

So far, I have plasti-dipped an appliance dolly/handtruck, the inside of a computer case and a few other odds and ends.

It applies really nicely (there is a spray paint type version) and is fairly forgiving vs. paint. It adheres well. It can tear and if it does it can peel from the tear. The tear can be functionally repaired with a spot application although the aesthetics suffer a bit.

It's a decent, cheap, easy alternative to powder coating a case inside. It'll take you about an hour to do, requires no sanding, will cost you about $6-$12 (one can will cover a case, two cans will give a thicker, more durable coating). You can be putting your case back together an hour after you finish.

If you decide to go with powdercoating later, it peels off, with some effort.

I hope this helps.
