Downbeat borns from the efforts of F-on, Urtzi and Jose Rico. Firstly, Downbeat started with the format of â?œpartyâ?. Several artists took part of downbeat parties: Mike Huckaby, Patrice Scott, Ksoul, Keith Worthy, Juju & Jordash and Rick Wade. They are parties full of deep house with soul; and Now we want to crystallize this spirit in a record label. Downbeat is slow and hypnotic deep house, music with soul, and a big respect for black music.
Downbeat wants to be a tribute to American house music, House music from Chicago, and house music from Detroit. Downbeat takes influence of producers and artists like Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Larry Heard, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby, Specter, Juju & Jordah, Rick Wade, Mike Grant, Ron Trent, Kai Alcé, Kevin Reynolds, Alton Miller, Marcellus Pittmann, Damon Lamar … and what Omar-S called â?œMotown Minimal Soundâ?.
In addition, We take influences of classics of the black music , Kraftwerk, dub music, or experimental music. We love house music and we love the vinyl. So, we want to claim the vinyl as the leader format for dance music. For this reason, we want to edit only in limited series of vinyles.
The first release comes from Chicago with Specter. Specter is Andres Ordoñez, the owner of Tetrode Music, a cult label from Chicago, that only with three releases has became in reference point for many people nowadays. 4 hipnotic deep house tracks with influence of Mr Fingers. Atmospheric and erotic midtempo house tracks that represents perfectly the sound of Downbeat. Music with soul in a corporeal container…..
